LAW & CONTRACTS: Rental Inspection checklist (printable)
Here are some things to check for when moving in or moving out of your rental home:
• In each room including hallways and bathrooms, inspect walls. Look for holes, irregular paint, nicotine stains and mold. If moving out, offer to fill small nail holes etc.
• Check all outlet covers and lighting fixtures for paint and damage.
• Open and close all cupboard doors to make sure hinges work properly.
• Are kitchen appliances clean and in working order?
• Are windows and sills clean and free of mold?
• Are outdoor spaces swept and clean?
• Is there any damage to the carpet throughout the home? Look for stains, regular traffic dirt and cigarette burns.
• Check the tile or laminate for damages throughout the home.
• Are air intake vents clean and in working order?
• Are faucets and other fixtures in working order and free of leaks?
• Are mirrors in good condition?
• Are doors and locks all in working order and free of damage?
• Is storage space clean and empty?
