Estimate project cost in it's entirety to see if it is affordable

Compare at least three prices before purchasing materials or choosing a servicing company
*
Plan carefully for downtime in water/utilites/electricity
*
Have a worst case scenario plan
*
Decide if you will do the work or hire it done
*
Estimate and plan for the realistic amount of time it will take to finish the project
*
Talk to family and friends who have completed a similair project to get tips and input
