This checklist helps you remember some crucial things before leaving your house or apartment for longer periods of time, for example if you go on holiday.

- Cash/Foreign Exchange

- Travellers Checks
- Insurance (Travel, Home etc.)

- Mobile phone no. on fellow travellers
- Directions to destination (address + phone no.(them to you, you to them))
- Leave a copy of Itenary at home with address and contact no.
- Keys to destination
- Reading material
- Specific Documents you have to bring (Job, Pleasure, People you are visiting)
- Gifts
- Pay bills before you leave & go through INBOX/OUTBOX

Closing the house
- Garbage
- Water the plants / arrange watering while you are away
- Refrigerator/fridge
- Unplug appliances
- Plug in automatic on/off devices (anti-burglary precautions)
- Lock doors and windows, including garage
- Turn down the heating
- Check answering machine
- Tell neighbours / people you trust how long you are gone / ask them to water flowers / keep an eye on the house (give them your mobile no.)
- Check that all windows, back doors etc. are shut and locked
- Turn on burglar alarm
- Shut the front door
